Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 23, 2026

The short version

Your music stays on your phone. We never see your songs, your playlists or your listening. There are no ads, no trackers and no selling of data. If you subscribe, our payment company, Stripe, handles your card, and we only learn your email and whether your subscription is active.

Who we are

Prelude is run by Heejeong Cho in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). You can reach us at preludemusichelper@gmail.com.

Anyone can use Prelude, wherever they live, including the United States. Your information is handled the same way everywhere, as this policy describes, and you keep any privacy rights the law where you live gives you.

What stays on your phone, and never reaches us

Everything you put into Prelude is saved only in your browser's storage on your own device:

None of this is uploaded. We cannot see it, back it up or recover it. If you clear your browser's data for Prelude, or remove Prelude from your phone, it is deleted for good.

What we do receive

If you subscribe: payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details directly. We never see or store your full card number. We receive your email address, which plan you chose, and whether your subscription is active, cancelled or failed to renew. We use this only to give you access, to send receipts and account emails, and to answer you if you contact us. Stripe's own privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

When you visit the website: our hosting provider, Cloudflare, briefly processes technical details that every website receives, such as your IP address and device type, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We do not use this to track you. Cloudflare's policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

If you email us: we keep your message and email address so we can reply.

What we don't do

Age

Prelude is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you are under the age of majority where you live (18 or 19 in Canada), you need a parent or guardian's permission to subscribe, and they should make the payment.

How long we keep things

We keep your email and subscription details while your subscription is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for tax, accounting and legal reasons, usually up to 7 years for payment records. Messages you send us are deleted once they're no longer needed.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we're allowed to. Email preludemusichelper@gmail.com. For anything saved only on your phone, you are fully in control: delete songs in the app, or clear Prelude's data in your browser settings.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell subscribers by email or in the app before it takes effect.
