Terms of Use
Last updated: September 23, 2026
Prelude plays audio and video files that are already on your phone. Only add files you have the right to use. Your subscription renews until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime. Payments aren't refunded (see the Refund Policy).
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Heejeong Cho, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"), who runs Prelude. By using Prelude, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Prelude.
2. Who can use Prelude
You must be at least 13 to use Prelude. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and must make any payment.
3. What Prelude does
Prelude is a music player for files you already have on your device. It can play, loop, shuffle, rename, cut and organize those files. Prelude does not download anything from TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or any other service, and it cannot open music protected by other apps, such as songs downloaded inside Spotify or Apple Music.
4. Your files and your responsibility
- You may only add files that you own or have the right to use. You are responsible for the files you add and how you use them.
- Don't use Prelude to copy, share or sell music or videos you don't have the rights to.
- Your files stay on your device. We don't own them, see them or keep copies.
- Because everything is stored on your device, clearing your browser data or removing Prelude deletes your library, and we can't get it back. Keep your original files if they matter to you.
5. Other companies' names
TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Spotify and Apple Music are trademarks of their owners. Prelude is not made by, connected to or endorsed by any of them. We mention them only to explain which files Prelude can work with.
6. Subscriptions and payment
- Prelude costs $2.50 per month or $14.99 per year, in the currency shown at checkout, plus any taxes that apply. The price you pay is the one shown when you subscribe.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and you are charged again, until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the time you've already paid for.
- If we change the price, we'll tell you before it applies to you, and the new price only starts at your next renewal. You can cancel before then.
- Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
7. Using Prelude fairly
Don't copy, resell or share access to Prelude, don't try to get around the subscription, and don't try to break, overload or reverse-engineer it. We may end access for anyone who does.
8. Changes to Prelude
We may improve, change or remove features over time. If we ever shut Prelude down, we'll give subscribers notice and stop future charges.
9. No guarantees
We work hard to make Prelude reliable, but it is provided "as is". We can't promise it will always be available, bug-free or work on every device, or that your phone won't clear its saved data. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for lost files or data, or for indirect losses. Our total responsibility to you for anything related to Prelude is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be removed.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop using Prelude and cancel anytime. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Sections 4, 5, 9 and 11 still apply after that.
11. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute goes to the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer protection law where you live says otherwise.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll tell subscribers before they take effect. Using Prelude after that means you accept the new terms.
